New Male Cat

I have a male tuxedo and just went yesterday and got a male tiger. They are not playing together very nicely. They are both rescues so they are fixed...but an odor is coming off of the new tiger when they are growling at each other. I need to know what to do about this. I can't have that smell in my house all the time!! Both cats are SO sweet and wonderful I don't want to get rid of either one of them. Does it just take time for them to get the idea that neither of them is leaving so they best get along? I have to go to work tonight and am scared that they will really hurt each other. I have already had to use the spray bottle to get them apart in mid fight. Thanks for ANY help you can give me!
